6/1/05 -- 9/1/16
(Photos by
Dennis Whitlock.) Harley was a nice little polled doe of pure Flat
Rocks breeding, who was apparently the spitting image of her granddam,
Holy Terror. She was not supposed to even be here, because both
of her parents are polled--obviously a big oops on my part, but
she turned out to be perfectly normal. So we seemed to have dodged
a bullet, and you will certainly not see a pedigree like this
one every day. I usually referred to Harley, who stands 17 1/2 "
tall, as my toy goat--she was really very correct, just very tiny.
I loved the shape of her udder, though I have to admit it was not
very gravitationally challenged. She had real value as a brood doe, however--her kids are exquisite, and her daughter Egghead (Dragonfly HFX Yggdrasil, EEEE 91) is one of my absolute favorites in the entire herd. This kind of doe can find herself undervalued at times, but not here...I always kept a daughter out of Harley, whenever she cared to gift me with one. She leaves behind 2 other daughters in the herd--Colombina, by Princeton, and Zerlina, by Capriccio.
