Penny is a combination
of some of the best that Flat Rocks has to offer--we think she is
really special. Out of a stunning doe line-bred on Flat Rocks Gem
(catch this amazing escutcheon, here),
by an up-and-coming son of Surprise, I'm hoping to milk her until
she is 12 or more, just like her famous grandmother (and multi-great
grandmother). Penny won her Junior leg and Best of Breed Junior
Doe at our the age of 6 months. I was especially pleased when someone
asked the judge to explain what was meant by flat, open ribbing,
and he walked over to Penumbra to demonstrate. At our first linear
appraisal session, the appraiser felt that Penny was the most promising
doe I presented. She received Excellent in head and back, and the
appraiser felt that she may be only a year or so and a little capacity
away from an E mammary. Penny's 2006 son by Stonewall's
Turner Ashby, Phoenix, is a herd sire in North Carolina, and
her 2009 son by Rebel, Stonewall
Jackson, is a herd sire at Fairlea Farm.
Show record: 1 x 1st,
1 x GCHJr, 1 x BOB Jr Doe
Kidding record: 2006,
single buck by Turner
Ashby; 2007, buck/doe
twins by Rio; 2008, twin

Rebel, 2010, triplets
by Rebel.
